Glossary

Definitions for terms used across Velaris’s design, routing, privacy, and operations.

A–C

  • AMM — Automated Market Maker; on‑chain liquidity pools with a pricing function (e.g., CPMM).
  • Atomic — Property where all legs of a transaction succeed or all fail.
  • Batch — Grouping of transactions executed together to reduce leakage and fees.
  • CPMM — Constant Product Market Maker; x*y=k pricing model.
  • Commit‑reveal — Two‑phase scheme: commit intent, reveal after a window to reduce MEV.
  • CU — Compute Units; Solana execution budget per transaction.

D–H

  • Delegation — Assign voting power to a representative for governance.
  • Dex aggregator — Router that sources liquidity across venues and AMMs.
  • Frontrun — Adversary anticipates and trades ahead of a target transaction.
  • Guardian — Role with scope‑limited emergency pause powers (not custody).
  • Health score — Adapter reliability metric used for dynamic routing weights.

I–P

  • Indicative quote — Non‑binding price that may change with market movement.
  • Intent — User’s requested trade with bounds, profile, and preferences.
  • IOC — Immediate‑Or‑Cancel; fill immediately or cancel the remainder.
  • Jitter — Randomized timing to reduce linkage and predictable patterns.
  • Mixout — Optional output redirection step to make linkage harder.
  • Privacy profile — Preset of parameters that balances latency vs. privacy.
  • Program Derived Address (PDA) — Deterministic account address derived by a program.
  • Plan — Selected route with concrete legs and constraints.

Q–Z

  • Quote — Price and size response from makers (firm or indicative).
  • Receipt — Post‑trade record of execution, slippage, and fees.
  • Relayer — Network participant that submits transactions on users’ behalf.
  • Route — Sequence of legs across makers and AMMs to fulfill an intent.
  • Slippage — Difference between expected and executed price.
  • Slot — Solana unit of time for block production.
  • Timelock — Delay between approval and execution to allow review.
  • TTL — Time‑To‑Live; maximum time a quote or intent is valid.
  • VWAP/TWAP — Volume/Time Weighted Average Price benchmarks.
